These days, it’s extremely difficult to go by without a credit card, considering that people can’t seem to do without their plastic, there are so many credit card companies that have cropped up by the dozen. Credit card companies have cashed in on this dependency of consumers and hence have come up with all sorts of offers and credit card deals in order to woo customers. However, it seems that these credit card companies don’t have to do much as most people already feel the necessity to go in for not one, but multiple credit cards.

There are various types of credit card companies in this competitive market. Some of them have been in this industry for many years, whereas some of the names are relatively new. Names such as American Express, Citibank, Visa, MasterCard, HSBC are names that most people are aware of, and many people choose to go for these well established companies. However some people like to explore the newer companies, as many of these new companies have much more attractive packages. Another thing is, that many people who don’t have a credit history find it difficult to get a credit card with these established companies. Newer companies want to build up their customer base and are not as particular with scrutinizing newer applicants, who apply for credit cards with them.

While most credit card companies have appear to be customer friendly and have the customers interest in mind. This is not necessarily true. There are some credit card companies who are not as genuine or fair as they seem. For example, it is known that some credit card companies are extremely customer friendly in some categories while in others they are quite unfair to the customers, and customers are not always given the best deals. One of the examples that can be cited here is interest rates. Not all credit card companies are upfront with regards to interest rates.

Also, another thing is many customers don’t bother to read all the fine print that is associated with their credit cards have, which leads them to assume a lot of things. Here, however it’s the consumers to blame and not the credit card companies. So, all said and done, you can’t really fault credit card companies for everything. For certain conditions customers are equally to blame.

Considering the wide range of credit card companies that are available, and who have all sorts of credit cards on offer, it’s highly recommended that customers do their research with regards to credit card companies before going in for one, especially those companies that are new in the business.
